As part of our continuing improvements to the woodland habitat, we have made up some lovely bat boxes. You can sometimes see bats passing over the woodland, we hope they like these, and take up permanent residence. Setting up a bat box is a great idea to improve habitat diversity, Over managed woodlands mean that older trees suitable for bat roosting can be few and far between.
If you want to set up a bat box, remember, location, location, location. Bats like to be near woodland edge or a clearing, south facing. Alternatively giant underground caverns will do.
